Weigh and Measure provides a variety of services related to nutrition assessment and evaluation, growth monitoring and training, including consulting services, where a staff of experts in various aspects of nutrition is available for seminars, workshops, and long-term projects. Weigh and Measure also offers a full line of growth monitoring tools, weighing and measuring instruments including scales, measuring devices, portable and clinic-based height and length measuring devices, wall-mounted stadiometers, specialized scales such as platform, BMI, chair and wheelchair scales, body composition analyzers, calipers, tapes and test weights at discounted prices. Unique to our product line are portable height-length measuring boards (ShorrBoard®) and clinic-based measuring boards (Shorr SmoothSlide©) that were designed and developed by Irwin J. Shorr, MPH, MPS, the owner of Weigh and Measure.  ShorrBoards® have been in use in more than 120 countries worldwide for more than 30 years by a variety of organizations, institutions, governments, NGO/PVOs, UN agencies, hospitals, clinics, universities, etc.

ABOUT THE OWNER

Irwin J. Shorr, MPH, MPS

Irwin J. Shorr is a nutritionist with two master’s degrees, a Master of Public Health in Nutrition from the UCLA School of Public Health (MPH 1972), and a Master of Professional Studies in International Development with a major in International Nutrition from Cornell University (MPS-ID 1984), who has worked in 38 countries worldwide over the past nearly 40 years on nutrition assessment and evaluation, growth monitoring and anthropometry training for a variety of organizations, international and government agencies and educational institutions. He has been the director of projects and conducted growth monitoring workshops in several states countrywide.

Irwin has written several manuals including, “How To Weigh And Measure Children” for the United Nations (New York, 1986) that has been translated into several languages and distributed worldwide. He has also designed anthropometric measuring instruments such as portable height-length measuring boards, the ShorrBoard®, that are in use in more than 120 countries worldwide. He is a Senior Associate at The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health where he teaches anthropometric nutrition assessment. In 1994, he received the Mid-Career Award from the International Health Section of the American Public Health Association, and in 2004 he was inducted into the UCLA School of Public Health Hall of Fame for his career achievements.
